Lakes District

April 2026

This Wasn't in the Plans

England was never high on my travel list. I'd always wanted to visit the Lake District, but beyond that, the rest of the country had never really captured my imagination.

Then life threw us a surprise.

At 40 years old, we found ourselves planning an impromptu journey halfway across the world to meet my recently discovered half-sister in Blackpool. Even a war unfolding in the Middle East wasn't enough to stop us.

Some opportunities are simply too important to put off.

This collection follows part of that unexpected adventure, from arriving in London before making our way north through Stratford-upon-Avon, Chatsworth House near Bakewell, Liverpool, Manchester, Blackpool, and finally spending time exploring the beautiful Lake District.

Every photograph was captured on a Fujifilm X-T5, paired with either the original Fujinon XF 23mm f/1.4 or the incredibly versatile XF 16-55mm f/2.8. Their compact size made them ideal travel companions, allowing me to stop, frame a moment, and capture a scene before hurrying off to catch up with the family.
