Beyond the Landmarks

While holidaying in the United Kingdom, our family took a short detour to Italy, spending three unforgettable days in the heart of Rome. Staying just a stone's throw from many of the city's iconic landmarks gave us the freedom to explore on foot, wandering the quiet alleyways, bustling piazzas, and hidden streets without a fixed itinerary.

This collection of scenes from that journey - well known landmarks alongside the smaller details that give Rome its character. Rather than documenting every attraction, these photographs reflect the simple pleasure of walking, observing, and discovering the city at our own pace.

Every image was captured with a Fujifilm X-T5 paired with the original Fujinon XF 23mm f/1.4 lens. Its compact size and versatility make this combination perfectly suited to travel allowing me to capture a scene before hurrying to catch up with the family.

I hope these images convey a little of Rome's atmosphere and charm, and remind you that some of the most intriguing scenes may be found away from the famous landmarks, waiting just around the next corner.
